Clinton Gets Back on Track with Sweep Over Argenta-Oreana

The Clinton Maroons got back on the right track tonight, earning a straight-set victory over Argenta-Oreana behind a strong all-around team performance.

Clinton came out firing, taking the opening set 25-20 before turning up the pressure in the second set to close out the 2-0 sweep with a convincing 25-14 win. The Maroons brought energy on both sides of the net, combining effective attacks with strong defensive play to keep Argenta-Oreana from gaining momentum.

Kate Parrish once again delivered a big performance for Clinton, helping lead the Maroons to the victory. After the match, ILSportsWire’s Marlie Dearwester caught up with Parrish to discuss the team’s momentum, her performance, and making the most of her final days of regular-season volleyball as a senior.

Parrish credited the team’s excitement and ability to celebrate every point as a major factor in the win.

“I feel like we just got excited about every single point we had,” Parrish said. “We had great attacks, we had great defense. I think our back row played a really outstanding job tonight.”

For Parrish, the little things made a big difference. Keeping teammates encouraged, communicating, and maintaining energy throughout the match helped Clinton put together a complete performance.

Individually, Parrish found success by mixing up her shots and keeping the Argenta-Oreana defense guessing.

“I just kept going different shots and just confusing the other team quite a bit,” Parrish explained. “I just kept going short and deep, and it seemed to work really well.”

With her senior season approaching its final week of regular-season play before the postseason, Parrish knows the time left with her teammates is precious. Her focus is on building lasting memories while continuing to strengthen the team’s connection on and off the court.

“I’m just going to spend time with my team as much as we have left,” Parrish said. “Just really bond together, have great memories, and just play well, talk on the court, talk off the court.”

The Maroons will look to carry the energy from tonight’s sweep into the final stretch of the regular season as they prepare for postseason volleyball.

For Clinton, tonight was more than a win on the scoreboard. It was a chance to build momentum, play together, and make the most of the final moments of the season.
