The Pana Varsity Panthers used timely baserunning and took advantage of key defensive miscues to slip past the CAM Raiders 4-3 in a tightly contested matchup.
Pana struck first in the second inning when Brylan Miller helped his own cause with an RBI single to give the Panthers a 1-0 lead. However, the Raiders answered in the bottom half of the inning, capitalizing on a walk, a sacrifice fly from Marshall Minott, and a fielder’s choice to jump ahead 3-1.
The Panthers chipped away in the fifth inning. Madix Angel put the ball in play and reached on an error, allowing Parker Moore to score and cut the deficit to 3-2. That momentum carried into the seventh inning, where Pana completed the comeback.
Angel once again played a key role, reaching on another error that allowed Cash Lynch to score and tie the game at 3-3. Moments later, aggressive baserunning proved to be the difference—Easton Malisia broke for home on a pickoff attempt and successfully stole home to give the Panthers a 4-3 lead.
CAM threatened late, but Pana pitcher Brylan Miller shut the door. Miller delivered a complete game performance, going seven innings while allowing just four hits and three runs, striking out eight to secure the win.
