The Clinton Lady Maroons just keep finding ways to win.
Clinton extended its winning streak to 14 straight games Tuesday night with a hard-fought 59–48 road victory over a tough Maroa-Forsyth team. The night didn’t start easy for the Maroons, as Maroa came out playing strong defense and kept Clinton from finding any early rhythm. The first quarter stayed tight with the score knotted at 11–11.
The second quarter turned into an offensive showcase, with both teams heating up from beyond the arc. It became a back-and-forth battle as each side answered the other with timely three-pointers. By halftime, Clinton had built a six-point lead, but knew the job was far from finished.
In the second half, Clara Dempsey and Carly Anderson stepped up in big moments. Dempsey knocked down key shots from outside the arc, while Anderson went to work inside the paint, giving the Maroons the balanced scoring they needed. Maroa continued to battle, but Clinton stayed composed and made the plays down the stretch to pull away for the 59–48 win.
After the game, Coach Williams credited his team’s tough early schedule for preparing them for situations like this, saying it has been a major factor in the team’s success during this impressive run.
It wasn’t an easy win, but it was another statement victory for a Clinton squad that continues to prove its toughness and extend its dominance on the road.
