Maroa-Forsyth Sweeps Mt. Zion in Competitive Senior Night Match

Maroa-Forsyth earned a straight-set victory over Mt. Zion on Thursday night, winning 25–16, 27–25 as the Braves celebrated Senior Night.

The Trojans took the opening set by nine points before Mt. Zion delivered a stronger challenge in the second. The Braves pushed the set into extra points, but Maroa-Forsyth secured the two-point margin needed to finish the sweep.

The evening recognized Mt. Zion’s senior class, including Kendall Smith, Avelyn Ethell, Catelyn Crafton, Lyla Swartz, Tinley Ditty and Jillian Durbin.

Smith delivered a well-rounded performance for the Braves, recording eight kills, seven assists, five digs and one block. Her contributions helped lead Mt. Zion both offensively and defensively.

Gabby Wisher added seven kills and a block, while Ethell finished with five kills and nine digs. Elise Mavis contributed three kills, giving the Braves another scoring option at the net.

Crafton provided eight digs in the back row, and Mya Cully added seven assists to match Smith’s total. Together, those efforts helped Mt. Zion extend the second set beyond the usual 25-point finish.

Maroa-Forsyth countered with a balanced attack. Claira Timmons, Lila Jarosz and Ashlen Grayned each recorded eight kills, giving the Trojans three consistent scoring options.

Jacy Ravenscraft directed the offense with 25 assists and added two kills and three digs. Hannah Gruenewald contributed three kills and led the Trojans’ recorded defensive totals with 10 digs.

Addie Woodward finished with eight digs and two service aces, while Makenna Doolin recorded three aces. Sydney Pottala added two digs, Grayned contributed one dig, and Jarosz recorded a block assist.

The second set provided the closest competition of the evening, with Mt. Zion improving on its opening-set result and putting Maroa-Forsyth’s sweep in jeopardy. The Trojans ultimately prevailed 27–25, completing a road victory while the Braves marked an evening dedicated to their seniors.
