Monticello Shuts Out Olympia 34–0 to Advance in Playoffs

Monticello paired a balanced scoring effort with a defensive shutout to defeat Olympia 34–0, keeping the Sages’ postseason run alive.

Five different players reached the end zone for Monticello, which scored twice in the opening quarter before adding three second-half touchdowns. The Sages’ defense kept Olympia off the scoreboard throughout, securing a decisive playoff victory.

Monticello opened the scoring with 9:00 remaining in the first quarter when Forrest Rawdin, wearing No. 32, caught a touchdown pass. The extra point gave the Sages an early 7–0 advantage.

Later in the quarter, No. 35 Tyler Allred added a touchdown reception with 1:20 remaining. Another successful extra point extended Monticello’s lead to 14–0.

Neither team scored in the second quarter, sending the Sages into halftime with their two-touchdown advantage intact. Olympia kept Monticello from extending the margin during that stretch, but the Spartans were unable to turn their defensive stops into points.

The Sages added to their lead midway through the third quarter. No. 40 Maddox Utley scored on a rushing touchdown with 5:50 remaining, and the extra point pushed the advantage to 21–0.

Monticello struck again with 21 seconds left in the quarter when No. 22 Daniel Moore caught a touchdown pass. The ensuing extra point made it 28–0 heading into the fourth.

No. 3 Zeke Young supplied the final score, turning a long reception into a touchdown with 8:51 remaining. The extra-point attempt was unsuccessful, leaving the margin at 34–0.

Monticello finished with four receiving touchdowns, each scored by a different player, along with Utley’s rushing score. Rawdin and Allred helped establish the early lead, while Moore and Young contributed to the Sages’ second-half surge.

The defense delivered an equally important performance, holding Olympia scoreless across all four quarters. Even through the scoreless second period, Monticello protected its advantage and prevented the Spartans from narrowing the gap.

The victory sends Monticello into the next round of the playoffs, while Olympia’s season comes to a close.
