Pawnee Holds Off Tri-City for Three-Set Victory

The Pawnee Indians regrouped after a narrow second-set loss to defeat Tri-City in three sets, earning a 25-15, 23-25, 25-20 victory on October 15.

Pawnee opened the match with its strongest set on the scoreboard, taking the first 25-15 to establish a 1-0 advantage. The Indians received contributions from several players at the net, behind the service line and in the back row throughout the match.

Tri-City answered in the second set. After losing the opener by 10 points, the Tornadoes edged Pawnee 25-23 to even the match and force a deciding third set.

The Indians responded with a 25-20 win in the finale, securing the match 2-1 and preventing Tri-City from completing the comeback.

Senior Ashlyne Cobb contributed across multiple areas for Pawnee, recording kills, aces and digs. Junior Lilly Skogsberg also supplied offense at the net, while Kloee Roland and Emma McKenzie each added two kills. Adelai Adomako contributed another kill alongside her work defensively.

Pawnee’s serving received a boost from sophomore Elisa Gall and freshman Jenna Berry, who each recorded three aces. Their production helped give the Indians additional scoring opportunities in a match that required all three sets.

Defensively, Cobb and Adomako were among Pawnee’s contributors in the back row. Jada Johnson, Gall, Berry and Roland also recorded digs, giving the Indians support from throughout the lineup.

The closing set provided the difference. After Tri-City extended the match with its two-point victory in the second, Pawnee recovered to take the third by five and finish the night with a hard-earned home win.
