The Taylorville Tornadoes put together a complete performance on both sides of the ball, shutting out Warrensburg-Latham 6-0 behind a dominant outing in the circle and timely offense.
Taylorville wasted no time getting on the board in the first inning. After Peyton DeMichael worked her way into scoring position, Carsen Corzine delivered with an RBI single to give the Tornadoes a 1-0 lead. Later in the inning, Hope Kietzman added to the advantage with a groundout that brought home another run, pushing the lead to 2-0.
From there, it was all about control—both offensively and defensively. Taylorville continued to apply pressure in the fifth inning, capitalizing on defensive miscues and productive outs. A strikeout during the inning turned costly for Warrensburg-Latham as a run scored on a catcher’s error, extending the lead to 3-0.
The Tornadoes then broke things open with back-to-back fielder’s choice plays. Kietzman drove in two runs with aggressive baserunning and smart situational hitting, and Macey Richardson followed with another RBI fielder’s choice to make it 6-0.
While the offense did its job, Carsen Corzine took complete command in the circle. She tossed a complete-game shutout, allowing just three hits over seven innings while striking out nine and walking two. Warrensburg-Latham struggled to generate any consistent offense, managing only three hits and striking out nine times as a team.
Taylorville finished with nine hits and played clean defense behind their pitcher, sealing a well-rounded victory.
