The Taylorville Tornadoes traveled to Normal hoping to shift their momentum and get back on track, but ran into a Rock Island team that was firing on all cylinders in a 59–33 loss in girls basketball action.
Taylorville came out with good energy in the first half, led by Julie Wayman, who scored six points and pulled down several rebounds early to keep the Tornadoes competitive. Despite the strong start from Wayman, the rest of the Tornadoes struggled to find their shooting touch, making it difficult to keep pace.
Rock Island capitalized on those struggles, putting together a red-hot shooting performance that stretched the lead as the game progressed. The Tornadoes battled defensively, but Rock Island consistently knocked down shots and controlled the tempo.
In the end, Taylorville was unable to mount a sustained run, falling 59–33. The loss extends a difficult stretch for the Tornadoes, as they continue to search for consistency and a spark to turn things around moving forward.
Julie Wayman talks after big performance.
