Rochester Rockets Surge Past Springfield (Coop)

Rochester wasted no time setting the tone offensively, plating three runs in the bottom of the first inning. Peyton Purves jumpstarted the rally with a triple, bringing home Brooklyn Thompson, before Kendall Edmonson followed with an RBI single to extend the early lead. The Rockets continued to apply pressure in the inning, capitalizing on aggressive baserunning and defensive miscues.

After Springfield scratched across a run in the top half of the first, Rochester answered emphatically in the second. Edmonson delivered the biggest swing of the night, launching a home run to center field to give the Rockets a 6-1 advantage. Rochester added another run on a sacrifice fly from Brooklyn Thompson, continuing to build momentum.

The Rockets’ offense remained relentless throughout the middle innings. In the third, Emmah Brown drove in a run with a line-drive single to center, and Rochester added another in the fourth when Mylie Deatherage singled home Edmonson.

The fifth inning proved to be the knockout blow. Rochester erupted for three more runs, highlighted by Kendall Edmonson’s RBI single and continued production from the top of the lineup. A sacrifice fly from Thompson and additional timely hitting pushed the Rockets’ lead into double digits.

Rochester added one final run in the sixth inning when Molly Eichholz reached on an error, allowing Deatherage to score and cap the Rockets’ 12-run performance.

Leading the offensive charge was Kendall Edmonson, who finished a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBIs, including her home run. Emmah Brown added a strong showing with three hits and two RBIs, while Molly Eichholz contributed two hits and scored three runs. Deatherage also chipped in three hits and an RBI, as Rochester tallied 16 hits as a team.

In the circle, Summer Parnell delivered a steady and effective performance, going the distance while allowing just three hits and two runs over six innings. She struck out five and consistently worked out of trouble, keeping Springfield from gaining any offensive rhythm.

Defensively, Rochester was solid throughout, overcoming a couple of miscues while continuing to apply pressure on both sides of the ball.

With the win, the Rockets showcased their offensive depth and pitching consistency—an encouraging sign as they continue through the season.
