Lady Rockets Fall to Southeast on Senior Night, 51–43

On Tuesday night, February 10, the Rochester Lady Rockets hosted the Southeast Spartans at Rochester High School with tip-off set for 7:00 p.m. Before the game, Rochester honored its seniors, celebrating their years of dedication, hard work, and commitment to the program. Surrounded by friends and family, the seniors were recognized for everything they’ve given to Rochester basketball and wished the best as they prepare for their future endeavors.

First Half

When the game got underway, both teams came out with high energy, and it showed early. The Spartans and Rockets went back and forth, matching each other’s intensity on both ends of the floor. Rochester worked to get their shooters open and set up their offense, while Southeast began to turn up the pressure defensively as the half went on.

In the second quarter, the Spartans started to control the glass, pulling down rebound after rebound and creating extra scoring chances. Rochester battled hard to keep them in check and continued to push the ball down the floor, looking for layups and open shots whenever possible. The effort paid off in keeping the game close, and at halftime, the Rockets trailed just 26–25, down by one point and very much still in the fight on their Senior Night.

Second Half

Southeast came out strong to start the second half, picking up right where they left off. The Spartans pushed the pace, worked the ball into the lane, and found ways to score, while Rochester continued to battle but struggled to secure rebounds off missed shots.

The Rockets never backed down and kept fighting, staying within a few points heading into the fourth quarter. In the final period, Rochester continued to show grit and determination, but just didn’t have enough left in the tank to reclaim the lead. Southeast was able to close it out and secure the win with a 51–43 final score.

Rochester started their seniors in their final home game of the season and gave everything they had on the court. While the result didn’t go their way, the Lady Rockets showed heart, fight, and pride all night long. Best of luck to the Senior Rockets as they move on to their next chapter—and as Rochester now turns its focus toward the postseason.
