Clinton’s Season Ends in Tight Regional Semifinal Loss to St. Joseph-Ogden

The postseason run for the Clinton Maroons came to a close Wednesday night, as they fell 53–48 to the St. Joseph-Ogden Spartans in a Class 2A Regional Semifinal played in St. Joseph.

Clinton struggled to find its rhythm offensively early in the first quarter, but following a timeout from head coach Vic Binkley, the Maroons ramped up their defensive intensity. That spark translated into points on the other end, as Clinton closed the opening period on a run to take an 11–6 lead.

The Maroons carried that momentum into the second quarter, continuing to pressure defensively and convert timely shots. Clinton built its largest lead of the night at nine points and went into halftime ahead 29–20, putting itself in strong position against a tough Spartans squad.

St. Joseph-Ogden responded after the break with key defensive adjustments. The Spartans limited Clinton to just nine points in the third quarter while scoring 13 of their own, trimming the deficit and shifting the momentum heading into the final frame.

In the fourth quarter, St. Joseph-Ogden found success from beyond the arc, knocking down four perimeter buckets to seize control. With Clinton forced to foul late, Asher Pruemer calmly knocked down the final two free throws of the game to seal the Spartans’ five-point victory.

Keaton Graves led all scorers with a standout performance, pouring in 28 points for Clinton. Jaeden Bell contributed eight points, scoring two in each quarter, while Keagan Daughtrey added five.

St. Joseph-Ogden balanced its scoring effort, led by Parker Fitch with 15 points. Pruemer finished with 14, Nolan Franzen added 12, and Ryker Lockhart chipped in 10 points, seven of which came in the decisive fourth quarter.

The loss ends a strong season for Clinton, which finishes 24–9 overall. St. Joseph-Ogden improves to 20–11 and advances to Friday’s regional final, where the Spartans will face Warrensburg-Latham with a championship on the line.
