The Clinton Lady Maroons continued their strong run on the court Friday night, earning a 48–35 win over Rochester in a game that also marked a major milestone for head coach Josh Williams, who secured the 300th victory of his career.
Clinton came out firing from the opening tip, setting the tone early behind the scoring punch of Lilah Cluver and Carly Anderson. Cluver led the way with 15 points, while Anderson followed closely with 14, as the Maroons built an early advantage and forced Rochester to play from behind for much of the night.
The Rockets showed resilience and refused to go away quietly, battling back in the third quarter and trimming the deficit to just five points. However, Clinton responded with poise and composure, tightening up defensively and making timely plays down the stretch to pull away and seal the win.
The victory not only kept the Lady Maroons’ winning streak alive, but also etched another chapter into Clinton basketball history. After the game, Williams reflected on his 17 years leading the program, expressing his love for Clinton and pride in his team’s effort and toughness.
Williams credited his players for the milestone, noting how proud he was of the way his girls fought and stayed locked in when challenged. With balanced scoring, strong defense, and steady leadership, the Lady Maroons once again showed why they remain one of the area’s top teams as the season rolls on.
