Taylorville wasted no time taking control and never let up, rolling to a commanding 15-0 win over Riverton behind a relentless offense and a dominant performance in the circle.
The Tornadoes struck first in the opening inning when Carsen Corzine singled and later scored on Maecy Richardson’s RBI hit to center. Moments later, Olivia LeVault crossed the plate after another Riverton miscue, giving Taylorville a quick 2-0 lead.
The offense kept building in the second. LeVault, Peyton DeMichael, and Corzine all delivered RBI hits, while Kenzley Heimsness added a run with a groundout to extend the lead to 6-0.
Taylorville added another highlight in the fourth inning when Corzine turned a hard-hit ball into an inside-the-park home run, stretching the advantage to 7-0.
The fifth inning put the game away for good. Taylorville poured on runs through a mix of patience and timely hitting—drawing walks, capitalizing on wild pitches, and adding key hits. Hope Kietzman delivered a two-run single, while multiple runs scored on wild pitches as Riverton struggled to slow the momentum. By the end of the inning, the Tornadoes had pushed the lead to 15-0.
In the circle, Peyton DeMichael was in complete control. She tossed a one-hit shutout over five innings, striking out six and not allowing a walk.
