Rockets Secure Big Conference Win Over Lincoln, 4-2 -

Rochester varsity took care of business and never really let this one slip, knocking off Lincoln 4-2 behind a balanced offensive effort and a strong showing in the circle.

The Rockets got going early in the bottom of the first. After some aggressive baserunning, Emmah Brown came home on a steal, and Isabella Harness followed with an RBI single to make it 2-0. That early pressure set the tone.

Rochester added on again in the third, capitalizing on more chaos on the bases. Peyton Purves swiped home during a double steal sequence, stretching the lead to 3-0 without even needing a hit to score the run.

In the fourth, the Rockets picked up some insurance. Brooklyn Thompson lined a single to center that brought in another run, pushing the lead to 4-0 and giving Rochester some breathing room.

Lincoln made things interesting late. In the sixth, Grey Gilbert delivered a big triple to score a run, and Laurynn Mayberry added a sacrifice fly to cut the deficit to 4-2. But that was as close as it would get, as Rochester shut the door from there.

Mylie Deatherage led the way in the circle for the Rockets, going six innings while allowing just two runs and striking out six. Kendall Edmonson came in to finish things off cleanly.

Rochester finished with 10 hits on the day, getting contributions up and down the lineup, while Lincoln managed six hits but couldn’t quite overcome the early deficit.
