Rockets Battle to the End, Fall to MacArthur 54–46

The Rochester Rockets girls basketball team put together a gritty, determined effort but came up just short, falling 54–46 to the MacArthur Generals in a hard-fought contest.

Despite MacArthur entering the matchup with the stronger record, Rochester made it clear from the opening tip that the game would be anything but easy. The first half was played at a steady, controlled pace with minimal foul trouble on either side. MacArthur showed its balance on both ends of the floor and was able to build a modest lead as Rochester struggled at times to slow the Generals defensively.

Coming out of halftime, the Rockets flipped the switch.

Rochester increased its defensive pressure, played with renewed intensity, and began executing more effectively on the offensive end. That surge allowed the Rockets to chip away at MacArthur’s lead, closing the gap multiple times throughout the second half and keeping the game within striking distance.

Each time Rochester threatened to pull even, however, MacArthur responded with timely baskets and smart execution. Down the stretch, late fouls sent the Generals to the free-throw line, where they were able to extend their lead just enough to seal the victory.

Both teams competed with high energy from start to finish, and Rochester proved it could go toe-to-toe with a higher-ranked opponent. While the Rockets didn’t come away with the win, the performance showcased their resilience and ability to compete at a high level as the season moves forward.
