On Tuesday night, January 27, 2026, the Central A&M Raiders boys basketball team hosted the Mt. Pulaski Hilltoppers in Moweaqua, looking to defend their home floor. Despite a strong effort on both ends, the Raiders were unable to overcome the Hilltoppers’ rebounding and balanced attack, falling 66–51.
First Half:
The game opened in an unusual fashion, with Central A&M awarded two free throws before the opening possession and no tip-off. The Raiders converted one of the two to take a brief 1–0 lead. From there, Mt. Pulaski quickly found its rhythm, knocking down shots and applying pressure defensively.
Central A&M battled back by moving the ball well, creating open looks on layups and three-pointers, but the Hilltoppers consistently capitalized on missed shots at both ends. Their ability to control the boards led to several second-chance points and easy buckets in transition. By halftime, Mt. Pulaski had built a 31–20 advantage.
Second Half:
Coming out of the locker room, the Raiders showed renewed energy on defense, forcing tougher shots and briefly cutting the deficit to single digits. Their aggressive play, however, also led to fouls, sending the Hilltoppers to the free-throw line for key points.
Mt. Pulaski continued to dominate the rebounding battle, turning missed opportunities into putbacks and maintaining control of the tempo. Each time the Raiders threatened to close the gap, the Hilltoppers answered with timely baskets to keep momentum on their side.
In the end, Mt. Pulaski’s strength on the glass and steady scoring proved too much to overcome. The Hilltoppers pulled away late to secure a 66–51 victory over Central A&M. Despite the loss, the Raiders’ defensive effort and resilience kept them competitive throughout the night.
