The Rochester Rockets traveled to Taylorville for a highly anticipated matchup, coming in well-rested after six days off, while the Tornadoes had only one film session following a busy week in Litchfield. From the opening tip, the pace was fast and the energy high.
Rochester was led by Khordell Gregory, who poured in 24 points and was nearly impossible to stop. The Rockets’ pressure defense and fast-break execution were on full display, taking advantage of a Taylorville team that looked fatigued early. Rochester jumped out to a 22–13 lead after the first quarter in a loud, packed gym as both communities showed up in force.
Reece Gade added to the excitement with a thunderous dunk that served as the exclamation point for the Rockets. The momentum continued into the second half, as Khornell Gregory knocked down big shots to complement his brother, and Kai Bruce proved lethal from the perimeter.
Taylorville battled back behind Maddex Havera and Maddyx Owens, who each connected on tough shots and finished in double figures, but the Rockets’ depth and tempo were too much to overcome.
