The Shelbyville Rams hosted the New Berlin Pretzels on December 16th in a non-conference boys basketball matchup at Shelbyville High School. Entering the contest, Shelbyville carried a 2–1 record, while New Berlin came in at 5–3.
The Rams came out with strong energy on their home floor and kept pace early. Shelbyville limited the Pretzels to a narrow three-point advantage by the end of the first quarter and continued to battle in the second, trailing by just seven points at halftime.
Momentum shifted coming out of the break as New Berlin took control on both ends of the floor. The Pretzels’ offense found its rhythm while their defense tightened, allowing them to extend the lead to 17 points heading into the fourth quarter.
Shelbyville showed fight in the final frame and attempted to close the gap, but the Pretzels maintained their composure down the stretch to secure a 55–38 road victory.
With the loss, the Rams drop to 2–2 on the season. Shelbyville will look to bounce back on Friday as they travel to Sullivan to take on the Redskins.
