Maroa-Forsyth Keeps Rolling, Sweeps Argenta-Oreana for Sixth Straight Win

Written by Jack Hart

Maroa-Forsyth continued its impressive run Monday night, picking up its sixth consecutive victory with a dominant sweep over Argenta-Oreana.

The Trojans came out strong from the opening serve, taking control of the first set and never looking back. Maroa-Forsyth secured the opening set 25-18 before putting together an even more dominant performance in the second, cruising to a 25-8 win to complete the sweep.

Ashlen Grayned helped lead the way offensively with 8 kills, while Claira Timmons added a team-high 10 kills. Behind them, Jacy Ravenscraft kept the offense moving with an impressive 27 assists.

The win continues a strong stretch for Maroa-Forsyth, which has now won six straight and continues to build momentum as the season moves into its second half.

After the match, ILSportsWire’s Marlie Deerwester caught up with Grayned to discuss her performance, the team’s chemistry and what has helped the Trojans find success.

Grayned credited her teammates for her strong night, emphasizing that her focus is bigger than her individual performance.

“I feel like I’m just doing it for my team at this point, and we have all worked so hard,” Grayned said. “This play, this next play is bigger than me. It’s bigger than myself. It’s for my team.”

For Grayned, who is new to the school this year, building relationships with her teammates has been a major part of the team’s success.

“It really is just about building a family first, and then working on the play second,” Grayned said. “That builds chemistry, a good bond, and we’re all just sisters at the end of the day.”

That team-first mentality has also helped Grayned maintain her energy throughout matches. Her constant positivity and leadership have become an important part of the Trojans’ identity.

“I honestly just try to be the best leader I can,” Grayned said. “I love those girls so much. If I shut down, then I’m not being a role player on the team.”

With six straight wins now under their belt, Maroa-Forsyth continues to gain confidence and chemistry at an important point in the season.

The Trojans will look to keep the streak alive as they continue their push toward the postseason.
