Lincoln Lady Railers Clamp Down to Defeat Rochester Lady Rockets, 35–25

On Thursday night at 7 p.m. on January 22, the Rochester Lady Rockets hosted the Lincoln Lady Railers at the Rochester Athletic Center. Both teams battled for four hard-fought quarters, but in the end there could be only one winner. Lincoln’s aggressive defense and late-game execution lifted the Railers to a 35–25 victory over the Rockets.

First Half

Rochester came out strong, determined not to let Lincoln jump out to an early lead. The Lady Rockets scored first and set the tone with solid defense, making every possession a challenge for the Railers. Lincoln, however, quickly matched that intensity, answering with pressure of their own.

The Railers began to control the glass, securing key offensive rebounds and turning second-chance opportunities into points. That momentum allowed Lincoln to slowly build an advantage. Rochester responded by playing with increased aggression and emotion, managing to knock down a late basket before halftime. The Railers carried a slim 13–9 lead into the break.

Second Half

The second half picked up right where the first left off, with both teams locked in a defensive battle. Rochester moved the ball well, finding open shooters and keeping the game within reach. For much of the third quarter, the outcome remained uncertain as each team traded stops and struggled to gain separation.

In the fourth quarter, Lincoln’s defense made the difference. The Railers forced multiple turnovers and came away with crucial steals, allowing them to stretch their lead to six to eight points. As the Rockets were forced to foul in the closing moments, Lincoln capitalized at the free-throw line, pushing the margin into double digits for the first time all night.

Rochester earned one final trip to the line and converted one free throw, but the comeback effort fell short. The final score stood at Lincoln 35, Rochester 25.

The Lady Railers secured the win with relentless defensive pressure and strong rebounding, showing no signs of slowing down. Rochester fought hard for all four quarters and held their own, but missed opportunities and turnovers proved costly. In the end, Lincoln’s discipline and intensity carried them to victory.
