Lady Sages Fall to High-Scoring Tri-Valley, Turn Focus to Third-Place Game

The Lady Sages took the floor next against a Tri-Valley squad that entered the matchup averaging 75.5 points per game, and early on, the contest lived up to expectations.

Early turnovers allowed the Vikings to jump out to an 8–0 lead, but Monticello responded quickly, settling in and cutting the deficit to just two points heading into the second quarter. The game remained tight over the opening minutes of the period before Tri-Valley found its rhythm, knocking down shots and capitalizing on opportunities. The Vikings outscored the Lady Sages 26–11 in the second quarter to build a 17-point advantage at halftime.

Tri-Valley maintained control in the second half, continuing its offensive efficiency while holding Monticello in check. The Vikings outscored the Lady Sages 33–19 over the final two quarters to secure a 71–40 victory.

Despite the loss, there were positives for Monticello. Lexi Leatherwood and Sarah Cresap led the Lady Sages with 10 points apiece, while Leatherwood added 12 rebounds to record a double-double.

The Lady Sages will look to bounce back when they play for third place on Monday at 2:00 p.m. at the Sievers Center.
