The Maroa-Forsyth Trojans turned in a strong all-around performance against the New Berlin Pretzels, earning a straight-set victory with identical 25-19 wins in both sets.
Maroa-Forsyth found success through a balanced offensive attack, with several Trojans contributing at the net. Claira Timmons led the way with eight kills, while Ashlen Grayned added seven kills to help pace the Maroa-Forsyth offense.
Senior Hannah Gruenewald provided another strong option at the net, finishing with six kills, while Adelyn West and Lila Jarosz each added two kills. That balance allowed the Trojans to spread their attack around and keep New Berlin from settling in defensively.
Running the offense was senior setter Jacy Ravenscraft, who put together a productive night distributing the ball. Ravenscraft recorded 16 assists and also made an impact from the service line, finishing with three aces. Makenna Doolin contributed additional setting duties as Maroa-Forsyth continued to create opportunities for its hitters.
The Trojans established themselves in the opening set and maintained enough separation to secure a 25-19 victory. New Berlin continued to battle and remained competitive, but Maroa-Forsyth’s ability to generate offense from multiple spots on the floor helped the Trojans stay in control.
It was a similar story in the second set. The Pretzels kept pressure on Maroa-Forsyth, but the Trojans remained composed and continued to find points when needed. Their combination of attacking, serving and defensive play eventually allowed them to close out another 25-19 win and complete the two-set sweep.
Maroa-Forsyth also received contributions defensively from players throughout the lineup, including Sydney Pottala, Addie Woodward and A’Lyanna Rouser, helping the Trojans limit New Berlin’s opportunities to build extended runs.
With Timmons and Grayned leading a balanced attack and Ravenscraft directing the offense, Maroa-Forsyth put together a complete team effort to take care of the Pretzels in straight sets, 25-19, 25-19.
