Warrensburg-Latham Powers Past Clinton in Softball Matchup

A big early offensive surge proved too much to overcome as the Clinton Lady Maroons fell to Warrensburg-Latham, 11-0, in a five-inning contest.

Warrensburg-Latham wasted no time setting the tone, erupting in the top of the second inning with a string of timely hits and capitalizing on defensive miscues. The Cardinals plated multiple runs in the frame, highlighted by a home run and several RBI singles that quickly built a commanding lead. By the end of the inning, Warrensburg-Latham had seized full control of the game.

Clinton struggled to find its rhythm offensively against a strong Cardinals pitching performance. The Lady Maroons were limited to just four hits on the afternoon, with Laney Brewer, Hadley Humble, Anelise Thompson, and Jaelynn Thomas each recording a hit. Despite a few opportunities to generate momentum, Clinton was unable to push a run across the plate.

In the circle, Aliviyah Haynes battled through five innings for Clinton, allowing 11 runs (three earned) on 10 hits while striking out three. Defensive challenges behind her, including multiple errors, contributed to extended innings for Warrensburg-Latham, making it difficult for the Lady Maroons to slow the opposition’s offense.

Clinton showed flashes defensively, with solid plays across the infield and outfield, but the early deficit proved too large to overcome. Offensively, the Maroons attempted to manufacture scoring chances with aggressive baserunning and situational hitting, but Warrensburg-Latham consistently shut the door.

The Cardinals continued to add insurance runs in the middle innings, extending their lead to 11-0 and invoking the run rule after five innings.

Despite the loss, Clinton will look to regroup and build on the positives, including scattered offensive production and continued effort throughout the game.
