Rochester Rockets Explode Early, Cruise Past Sacred Heart-Griffin

A dominant first-inning outburst set the tone for the Rochester Rockets, who rode an explosive start and strong pitching to a convincing 6-2 victory over Sacred Heart-Griffin.

Rochester wasted no time putting pressure on the Cyclones, erupting for five runs in the bottom of the first inning. The Rockets strung together a series of quality at-bats, capitalizing on timely hits and defensive miscues to quickly seize control of the game.

Jaelyn Watts ignited the rally with an RBI single, bringing home Payton Sitko and putting Rochester on the board. Moments later, Sitko delivered a key double to left field, scoring Mylie Deatherage and extending the lead. The Rockets continued to pile on as Isabella Harness and Kendall Edmonson each added RBI singles, while aggressive baserunning and an error allowed additional runs to cross the plate. By the end of the inning, Rochester had built a commanding 5-0 advantage.

Sacred Heart-Griffin attempted to respond, but Rochester’s defense and pitching proved resilient. Starting pitcher Kendall Edmonson worked through early traffic before settling into a strong rhythm in the circle. The Cyclones managed to break through in the third inning with a pair of solo home runs, trimming the deficit to 5-2, but that would be as close as they would get.

From there, Rochester’s pitching staff took control. Edmonson delivered five solid innings, allowing just five hits and two runs while striking out six to earn the win. Jaelyn Watts came on in relief and was equally impressive, tossing two shutout innings and striking out four to shut the door on any potential comeback.

Offensively, the Rockets remained disciplined throughout the game. Kendall Edmonson led the way at the plate with a two-hit performance, while contributions came across the lineup. Rochester finished with seven hits and continued to apply pressure with smart baserunning and situational hitting.

The Rockets added an insurance run later in the game, capitalizing on a key double from Edmonson and consistent plate appearances that kept the Cyclones on their heels.

Defensively, Rochester was sharp, highlighted by a double play that erased a scoring threat and helped maintain momentum early in the contest.

In the end, it was Rochester’s explosive first inning and composed pitching performance that proved decisive. The Rockets showcased a balanced attack and strong execution, a combination that continues to make them a tough opponent as the season progresses.
