Lady Rockets Fall to Quincy Notre Dame

On Thursday night, January 15, at 6:30 p.m. inside the Rochester Junior High Gymnasium, the Rochester Lady Rockets welcomed the Quincy Notre Dame Lady Raiders for a non-conference matchup. Rochester battled hard throughout the evening, but the size, speed, and defensive pressure of the Raiders proved too much to overcome as Quincy Notre Dame pulled away for a 55–31 victory.

From the opening tip, Quincy Notre Dame set an aggressive tone, pushing the tempo and applying relentless full-court pressure. The Raiders disrupted passing lanes, forced turnovers, and converted those mistakes into quick points. Rochester worked to move the ball and create openings, but the Raiders’ defensive intensity limited clean looks at the basket. At halftime, the Lady Rockets found themselves trailing 32–15.

Rochester came out of the locker room with renewed energy and a determined mindset in the second half. The Lady Rockets showed improved ball movement, better chemistry, and a stronger effort to control the pace, finding more opportunities to get open shots and put points on the board. However, Quincy Notre Dame continued to capitalize on turnovers and knocked down timely three-pointers to maintain control.

Despite a spirited second-half effort, the Lady Rockets were unable to close the gap as the Raiders’ depth and physical presence remained a factor on both ends of the floor. When the final horn sounded, Quincy Notre Dame secured the win by a final score of 55–31.

Rochester showed resilience and heart throughout the contest, but ultimately came up short against the Raiders’ size, pressure, and intensity.
