Sages Surge Early, Finish Strong in 10-0 Win Over Mt. Zion

Monticello put together a complete performance on both sides of the ball, powering past Mt. Zion in a 10-0 win.

The Sages wasted no time getting on the board in the opening inning. Cassidee Stoffel sparked the offense with an RBI single to bring home the game’s first run. Isabella Beery followed with another RBI knock, and Ali Weidner added to the early surge with a run-scoring single to give Monticello a 3-0 lead after one.

Monticello continued to build momentum in the third inning when Beery delivered the biggest swing of the day, launching a two-run home run to extend the lead to 5-0.

The offense broke things open in the fifth inning. Weidner drove in another run with a single before Meadow Miller came through with a two-run hit to push the lead to eight. The Sages capped off the game shortly after, as Thea Key delivered a two-run single to seal the 10-0 run-rule victory.

In the circle, Cassidee Stoffel was dominant. She tossed a complete game, allowing just one hit while striking out four and keeping Mt. Zion off the scoreboard throughout.

Mt. Zion struggled to find any offensive rhythm, managing just one hit in the contest and striking out four times as a team.
