Rochester High School will not have a varsity football game on Friday, September 4, after the Rockets were unable to find a replacement opponent for Eisenhower.
According to Rochester Athletic Director Jr. Boudouris, the school spent the past two weeks searching for a team willing to travel to Rochester for a Week 3 matchup. Rochester even offered to compensate potential opponents for travel and meal expenses, but was ultimately unable to find a team willing to make the trip.
As a result, Rochester has made adjustments to its football schedule.
The junior varsity football game between Rochester and Eisenhower, originally scheduled for Labor Day on Monday, September 7, will now be moved to Friday, September 4. The JV game is scheduled for a 6 p.m. kickoff.
Rochester also announced a change to its Senior Night plans. The Senior Night recognition ceremony will now take place Friday, October 2, prior to the Rockets’ game against Normal University.
The schedule changes come after Rochester’s efforts to secure a varsity opponent for September 4 came up empty.
