The Rochester Rockets, coming off a tough Metro Cup week, looked to bounce back on the road against Pleasant Plains, but an early surge from the Cardinals proved too much in a 3–0 loss.
Pleasant Plains came out with energy from the opening whistle, catching Rochester off guard while the Rockets struggled to find their rhythm. The breakthrough came when Caroline Willenberg found herself in perfect position at the back post, finishing off a well-placed cross from Bailey Leach to make it 1–0.
Just minutes later, Leach added to the lead herself. Taking possession near the top of the box, she fired a shot that rang off the post and into the net, doubling the advantage to 2–0.
The third goal came off a tough break for Rochester, as a misplayed clearance on another Leach cross ended up in the back of the net, extending the Pleasant Plains lead to 3–0.
In the second half, play evened out with both teams going back and forth. Rochester created more opportunities and showed improvement in possession, but the Rockets were unable to capitalize on their chances and cut into the deficit.
Pleasant Plains moves to 4–0 on the season with the win, while Rochester will look to rebound quickly as they return to action against Lincoln in search of their next victory.
