The Clinton Maroons defeated the Marshall Lions 58–45 in a IHSA Class 2A Regional Quarterfinal on Monday night in Clinton.
The game opened evenly, but when Clinton briefly slipped midway through the first quarter, head coach Vic Binkley turned to 6-foot-5 junior Briggs White. White immediately made an impact, swatting away multiple shots to halt a Marshall surge and steady the Maroons.
Clinton held a slim 18–17 edge after one quarter, but Marshall answered in the second. The Lions pulled even at 26–26 by halftime, with Keaton Graves accounting for all eight of Clinton’s points in the period.
The Maroons trailed 37–35 entering the fourth quarter before flipping the switch. Clinton dominated the final frame, outscoring Marshall 21–10 to pull away and secure the win.
Graves led all scorers with 32 points for Clinton. Jaeden Bell added nine points, while Keagan Daughtrey chipped in seven.
Marshall was paced by Garrett Pugh, who finished with 21 points—11 coming in the opening quarter. Bryce Griguhn scored eight, and Brady Landrus added six.
Marshall ends its season at 12–16. Clinton improves to 24–8 and will face the St. Joseph-Ogden in the Regional Semifinal on Wednesday night in St. Joe. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m., with coverage available on WHOW and its digital platforms.
