Monticello came out firing and never slowed down in a dominant 4-0 win over Meridian Thursday night. The Sages set the tone almost immediately, striking early to grab control—and they never gave it back.
Sophie Burkybile opened the scoring just moments into the match, catching everyone off guard—including the camera crew—as Monticello jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead.
From there, the Sages continued to apply pressure. At the 13:10 mark, Paycee Burton delivered one of the highlights of the night, curling a beautiful corner kick into the net to double the advantage.
Addison Finet took over from there, turning in a standout performance with two goals. Her first came off a fortunate bounce off the post that she quickly finished into the right corner. Later, she added another after a perfectly placed ball from Anya Shepard, who sent a dime from right to left onto a running Finet to seal the 4-0 final.
Shepard also anchored a lockdown defensive effort as Monticello controlled every aspect of the match, showcasing both offensive firepower and defensive dominance in a complete team win.
