The Central A&M Lady Raiders put together a strong performance Monday night, taking care of the Tri-City Tornadoes in straight sets, 25-14, 25-18, in varsity volleyball action at Tri-City High School.
Central A&M established control early in the opening set and never allowed the Tornadoes to completely settle into a rhythm. The Lady Raiders steadily created separation on the scoreboard, using consistent play and several productive stretches to build their advantage.
Tri-City continued to battle, but Central A&M maintained its cushion and closed out the opening frame with a convincing 25-14 victory, putting the Lady Raiders one set away from completing the sweep.
The Tornadoes responded with a stronger showing in the second set.
Tri-City kept the margin tighter and made Central A&M work harder for points as the teams moved through the frame. The Tornadoes’ improved play kept them within striking distance, but the Lady Raiders remained composed when opportunities arose.
Central A&M eventually began creating the separation it needed down the stretch. With the Tornadoes attempting to extend the match to a deciding third set, the Lady Raiders continued to apply pressure and finished off the night with a 25-18 win in Set 2.
The straight-set victory gave Central A&M an impressive early-season result, with the Lady Raiders surrendering just 32 total points across the two sets.
Central A&M’s 2026 roster features seniors Kaydence Wilkinson, Lanae Hanley, Shelby Younker, Kenzie White and Callie Robertson, along with a large junior class that includes Adalyn Stinson, Mabry Metzger, Kiley Long, Mady Northcraft, Kylee Craft, Avery Cherry and Lylah Minott. Freshman Kooper McLain also joins the varsity group this season.
For Tri-City, the second set provided a much more competitive response after the Tornadoes fell behind in the opener. However, Central A&M’s ability to maintain control and finish both sets proved to be the difference.
When the final point was recorded, the Lady Raiders walked away from Tri-City with a 2-0 victory, winning 25-14 and 25-18 to complete the sweep.
