A dominant offensive showing and strong pitching performance powered the Mt. Zion Braves to a 12–1 win over the Rochester Rockets in a Saturday morning matchup that ended early due to the run rule.
Mt. Zion set the tone early and never looked back, overwhelming Rochester both at the plate and on the mound. The Braves’ pitching staff kept the Rockets off balance throughout the game, recording eight strikeouts by the end of the third inning and limiting scoring opportunities.
The Braves opened the scoring in the bottom of the first inning with a double that brought home the game’s first run, taking a 1–0 lead. They added to that advantage in the second inning with an RBI single to right field, extending the lead to 2–0.
The biggest swing of the game came later in the second inning when Evan Howley launched a three-run home run over the left field fence, giving Mt. Zion a commanding 5–0 lead. The Braves continued to build momentum in the third inning, erupting for five more runs to stretch the lead to 10–0.
Rochester found a brief spark in the top of the fourth inning. After working two walks and adding a single by Sean Plessa to load the bases, Adam Anderson was hit by a pitch, forcing in a run and putting the Rockets on the board. However, that would be the only offense Rochester could generate, as Mt. Zion’s pitching quickly shut the door on any further comeback attempt.
The Braves answered immediately in the bottom of the fourth, plating two more runs to extend the lead to 12–1 and put the game firmly within run-rule territory.
Rochester came to the plate in the top of the fifth looking to extend the game but was unable to mount a rally, securing the 12–1 victory for Mt. Zion.
With the win, the Braves showcased a complete team performance, combining timely hitting, power at the plate, and dominant pitching to secure the early-ending victory.
