Turnover Bombers: Raiders’ New Year Starts Now

The Central A&M Raiders rang in the New Year with a statement win Tuesday night, defeating the Argenta-Oreana Bombers 58–49 in a hard-fought varsity boys basketball matchup at Central A&M High School.

The Raiders came out firing in front of the home crowd, jumping to an early advantage in the opening quarter. Crisp ball movement and open looks on offense allowed Central A&M to build a comfortable cushion early, but the Bombers made it clear they wouldn’t go away quietly.

Argenta-Oreana turned up the pressure in the second and third quarters, playing aggressively on both ends of the floor. Their attack led to scoring opportunities at the rim and trips to the free-throw line, as physical play resulted in shooting fouls against the Raiders. By halftime, the Bombers had erased the deficit and pulled even, setting the stage for an intense second half.

The middle quarters were a battle of effort and execution. The Bombers capitalized on offensive rebounds, while the Raiders struggled at times with turnovers, making it anyone’s game as momentum swung back and forth. Every possession carried weight, and both teams showed grit in their pursuit of victory.

In the fourth quarter, Central A&M found its edge on the defensive end. The Raiders adjusted by playing the passing lanes and forcing turnovers, turning defense directly into offense. Each steal led to points, allowing the Raiders to regain control just as they had in the opening minutes.

Once back in front, Central A&M stayed composed. They managed the clock, protected the basketball, and maintained control of the court down the stretch. When the final buzzer sounded, the Raiders had secured a 58–49 win, opening the New Year with confidence and momentum.

It was a complete team effort highlighted by timely defense, opportunistic scoring, and poise when it mattered most—exactly the kind of performance that sets the tone for what’s ahead.
