The Rochester Rockets defended their home floor Tuesday night, grinding out a hard-fought 45–42 win over the Lincoln Railsplitters in a classic Central State 8 showdown.
Both teams brought the intensity from the opening tip, with possession-by-possession basketball defining the night. Lincoln led by six entering the fourth quarter, but the Rockets refused to back down. Rochester tightened up defensively, forced key stops, and slowly chipped away at the deficit.
The turning point came late in the final frame when Nate Swaney converted a crucial three-point play with just over a minute remaining, giving Rochester the lead and sending the home crowd into a frenzy. From there, the Rockets closed it out at the free-throw line and locked in on the defensive end.
Offensively, Kai Bruce led Rochester with 12 points, attacking the rim and giving the Rockets steady scoring throughout the night. Lincoln was paced by Brody Tungate’s 14 points, keeping the Railsplitters competitive until the final whistle.
This win marks a significant early-season statement for the Rockets, showing poise, resilience, and an ability to finish tight games against top CS8 competition.
