Shelbyville used a balanced offensive attack and strong contributions at the net to defeat Pawnee in straight sets Tuesday, Oct. 6, winning 25–15, 25–17.
The Rams secured the opening set by a 10-point margin before closing out the match in the second. Pawnee improved its scoring output in the final set, but Shelbyville completed the road sweep to move to 10–11 on the season.
Brynly Rice-Delgado delivered an all-around performance for Shelbyville, finishing with three kills, four blocks, nine digs and one ace. Meiya Thompson added three kills and three blocks, while Brielle Ko contributed three kills and two blocks, giving the Rams production from multiple players along the front row.
Ava Corley also recorded three kills, along with three assists and four digs. Avery Bland added two kills, one assist and two digs, while Cambrie Lebon and Stella Beavers each finished with one kill.
Taya Wiley helped organize Shelbyville’s offense with seven assists while also contributing nine digs and one kill. Debra Jones added six digs and two assists, and Kyndall Bennett finished with two assists and one dig.
Piper Duckett stood out at the service line, recording 15 service points and an ace while adding seven digs. Madie Mitchell supplied seven service points, one ace and one dig, and Rice-Delgado added five service points.
Pawnee received offensive contributions from several players in the loss. Ashlyne Cobb recorded four kills, while Lily McCario added three. Kloee Rolland, Jenna Berry and Adelai Adomoko each contributed one kill, and Jada Johnson recorded a service ace.
Cobb, McCario, Johnson, Adomoko and Elisa Gall also contributed defensively with digs as Pawnee worked to extend rallies against the Rams.
Shelbyville’s spread of offensive contributors, service production and blocking helped the visitors finish the match in two sets. The Rams are scheduled to return to action Oct. 8 at Central A&M.
