Warrensburg-Latham’s Block Party Stuns Maroa-Forsyth

Maroa-Forsyth came into tonight looking to keep their recent success rolling, but their rivals from Warrensburg-Latham had other plans.

The Cardinals came out firing, jumping ahead 7-0 early and immediately bringing the energy to the court. Maroa-Forsyth battled back, but Warrensburg-Latham held on to take the opening set 26-24.

The Trojans responded in the second.

Maroa-Forsyth found its rhythm behind Hannah Gruenewald, who came up with several big kills to help spark the Trojans. Maroa-Forsyth controlled the second set and evened the match with a 25-22 victory.

The third set felt almost like a replay of the first.

Warrensburg-Latham once again jumped out to a 7-0 lead and refused to let Maroa-Forsyth find its way back. The Cardinals’ defense took over, turning the net into a wall and frustrating the Trojans’ attack throughout the set.

Brettlyn Hickey and Emery Ernst were instrumental at the net, coming up with block after block as Warrensburg-Latham closed out the night with a dominant defensive performance.

The Cardinals’ ability to create pressure at the net proved to be the difference in a hard-fought rivalry matchup.

Warrensburg-Latham leaves with a big win, while Maroa-Forsyth will look to bounce back after a competitive battle from start to finish.
