Bean Ballers Hold Off Late Bombers Rally for 5-3 Victory

The Decatur Bean Ballers improved to 4-6 on the season Friday night, defeating the Dubois County Bombers 5-3 behind a balanced offensive attack and strong pitching.

Decatur struck first in the bottom of the opening inning. Matthew Novominsky came around to score on an RBI single by Oneill Feliz before Jackson Snitko added another run with an RBI groundout, giving the Bean Ballers an early 2-0 lead.

Dubois County responded in the second when Nate Dunfee doubled down the left-field line to score Dixon Monk and cut the deficit to 2-1.

The Bean Ballers added to their lead in the fourth inning as Gage Reynolds delivered an RBI single that brought home Caleb Crider. Decatur then created some breathing room in the fifth. Feliz drove in his second run of the game with an RBI groundout before Snitko followed with an RBI single to center, extending the advantage to 5-1.

The Bombers refused to go away quietly. In the ninth inning, Simon Gaines singled home Hunter Reeb to make it 5-2, and a subsequent balk allowed Nate Dunfee to score, trimming the lead to 5-3. However, Decatur’s bullpen shut the door to preserve the victory.
