The Rochester Rockets celebrated Senior Night in style Monday evening, using a powerful offensive performance to defeat the Crimsons 15-10 in a high-scoring matchup.
Rochester came out swinging early and never looked back. Kendall Edmonson started the scoring with an RBI double in the first inning before Mylie Deatherage added an RBI single. Payton Sitko later delivered a two-run single to give the Rockets a quick 4-0 advantage.
The Rockets kept the pressure on in the second inning. Edmonson drove in two more runs with a single, Deatherage followed with an RBI triple, and Brooklyn Thompson added a sacrifice fly as Rochester built an 8-0 lead.
The Crimsons answered in the fourth inning when Alyvia Woods reached on an error that scored a run. Eva Jane Jenkins then launched a three-run homer to right field to cut the deficit to 8-4.
Rochester responded immediately in the bottom half of the inning. Deatherage crushed a two-run home run to center field before Payton Sitko added another two-run single, helping the Rockets extend the lead to 12-4.
The Crimsons continued to fight late, scoring six runs over the final two innings behind RBI efforts from Jocelyn Smock and Jenkins, but Rochester’s explosive start proved too much to overcome.
The Rockets finished with 20 hits on Senior Night. Kendall Edmonson led the way with a perfect 4-for-4 performance, scoring four runs and driving in four more. Mylie Deatherage also starred with four hits, a home run, a triple, and four RBIs, while Payton Sitko added four RBIs of her own.
Eva Jane Jenkins powered the Crimsons offense with a home run and four RBIs. Jocelyn Smock added two hits and two RBIs, while Maci Moore finished with two hits and two runs scored.
