Central A&M wasted no time taking control and never looked back, erupting for a big middle stretch to defeat Shelbyville 13-1.
Shelbyville struck first in the top of the 1st when Alexis Jokisch launched a solo home run to center, giving the Rams an early 1-0 lead. That would be the lone highlight offensively, however, as Central A&M quickly responded and dominated the rest of the game.
The Raiders tied it in the bottom of the 1st on an RBI single from Callie Robertson, then began to separate in the 2nd. Kayla McPeek delivered a key two-run single to put Central A&M ahead for good, sparking a surge that Shelbyville couldn’t stop.
The game broke wide open in the 3rd inning. Central A&M piled up runs with a string of hits, including RBI singles from McPeek, Kylee Snearly, and Robertson, along with a two-run double from Brookelyn Jackson. By the end of the inning, the Raiders had blown the game open and taken full control.
They added more in the 4th, highlighted by Snearly’s RBI single and a run-scoring groundout from Riley Hazelwonder to cap the scoring at 13-1.
Shelbyville struggled to generate offense outside of Jokisch’s home run, finishing with just four hits and striking out 11 times.
Hazelwonder was dominant in the circle for Central A&M, tossing five strong innings while allowing just one run and striking out 11 to earn the win.
Central A&M’s balanced attack and big innings proved too much, as they turned an early deficit into a convincing run-rule victory.
