Taylorville used a big first inning and a go-ahead fourth to beat Pana 7-6 on Thursday.
Pana scored three in the first. Jax Czaikowski drove in one on a walk, Dane Epley added a run on a bunt, and an error brought in another.
Taylorville answered with four in the bottom half. Colton Gatton and Kason Pembroke had RBI singles, and Maxx Grieme helped fuel the inning as the Tornadoes took a 4-3 lead.
Pana went back in front in the second, scoring twice on passed balls to make it 5-4. Pembroke tied it with an RBI double.
Pana made it 6-5 in the fourth on a Czaikowski RBI single, but Taylorville responded again. Drew Morgan tied it with a sacrifice fly, and Fallon Turner followed with the go-ahead RBI single.
Pembroke earned the win, tossing five innings with five strikeouts, while Grieme closed the door in the final inning to secure the victory. Grieme also went 2-for-2 and scored three runs.
