Glenwood pulled off late-game heroics Wednesday night, scoring twice in the bottom of the seventh to stun Rochester 3-2 in a tightly contested matchup.
Rochester jumped out early in the top of the first when Kendall Edmonson delivered a line-drive single that led to the game’s first run after an error pushed Peyton Purves across the plate. The Rockets added to their lead in the fourth inning when Edmonson struck again, this time launching a solo home run to center field to make it 2-0.
Glenwood chipped away in the bottom half of that same inning as Ryleigh Kiel blasted a solo homer to cut the deficit to 2-1, keeping the Titans within striking distance.
From there, pitching took over. Rochester’s Jaelyn Watts battled through 6.1 innings, striking out eight while limiting damage, but Glenwood stayed patient at the plate.
The Titans finally broke through in the seventh. A sacrifice fly from Sydney Feld tied the game at 2-2, setting the stage for the dramatic finish. Moments later, Lohrenz came through with a clutch single to center field, scoring Ava Bobb and sealing the walk-off victory.
Kendall Edmonson led Rochester offensively, going 2-for-3 with a home run and an RBI. On the Glenwood side, Ryleigh Kiel’s homer sparked the comeback, while Lohrenz delivered the game-winning hit.
Glenwood’s Lohrenz also earned the win in the circle, tossing a complete game with 12 strikeouts, helping guide the Titans to the comeback victory.
