Edmonson’s Two-Homer Night Powers Rochester Past Olympia

The Rochester Varsity Rockets rode a huge offensive performance from Kendall Edmonson to take down Olympia 7-4, using power at the plate and timely hitting to stay in control.

Rochester got on the board in the second inning when Molly Eichholz delivered a clutch double that brought in two runs, giving the Rockets an early 2-0 lead. They blew things open in the third inning behind the long ball. Peyton Purves launched a two-run homer to left, and Kendall Edmonson followed shortly after with a solo shot to center, extending the lead to 5-1.

Olympia answered in the top of the third with an RBI single from Kennadie Finchum to score Myra Books, but Rochester continued to apply pressure. In the fourth inning, Edmonson struck again—this time with an RBI double—to make it 6-1.

The Spartans didn’t go away quietly. In the sixth inning, Olympia took advantage of a pair of Rochester errors. Teagan Haning reached on a misplay that allowed Brinklee Burns to score, and later Myra Books reached on another error that brought in two more runs, cutting the deficit to 6-4.

However, Rochester quickly shut the door in the bottom half of the inning. Kendall Edmonson capped off her standout performance with her second home run of the game, a solo blast to center field that pushed the lead to 7-4 and sealed the win.

Rochester’s combination of power hitting and early offense proved too much, as they held off Olympia’s late rally to secure the victory.
