Emma Selhime set the tone from the very first pitch, delivering a dominant performance in the circle to lead Pawnee to a 2-0 win over Tri-City. The right-hander was in complete control all game, allowing just one hit across seven shutout innings and consistently shutting down any momentum Tri-City tried to build.
Pawnee backed her early, striking in the bottom of the first inning. Mae McTaggart ignited the offense with aggressive baserunning, stealing second before scoring on a line-drive single to right from Adalyn Boblitt. Moments later, pressure on the bases paid off again as another run crossed the plate on a wild pitch, giving the Indians a quick 2-0 advantage.
That early cushion proved to be more than enough for Selhime, who worked efficiently and kept Tri-City guessing throughout. Whenever Tri-City threatened, she responded with key outs and strong command in the zone.
Lily Woodworth was impressive in her own right for Tri-City, striking out 12 and limiting Pawnee to just two hits, but the first-inning damage held up as the difference.
Pawnee’s defense stayed sharp behind Selhime, closing the door on any comeback hopes and securing the shutout victory.
