Tri-City Varsity TCSVMP put together a strong day on the diamond, earning a pair of wins with a gritty comeback against Meridian followed by a dominant offensive showing against Pana.
In game one, the Tornadoes had to battle early adversity after Meridian struck first in the opening inning on an RBI single to take a 1-0 lead. Tri-City responded in the third inning, capitalizing on defensive pressure and timely hitting. With runners in motion, Tiffany Farley put the ball in play and reached on an error, allowing Lexi Patton and Audrey Cooper to both come across and give the Tornadoes a 2-1 advantage. From there, the pitching and defense took over. Tri-City held Meridian in check the rest of the way, with a strong outing in the circle and clean defense sealing the tight win.
Game two was a completely different story, as the Tornadoes’ offense exploded early and never let up in a commanding win over Pana. Tri-City jumped out fast in the first inning, using aggressive baserunning, a sacrifice bunt from Maebri Bender, and a groundout from Farley to build a quick 4-0 lead.
After Pana got one back, the Tornadoes responded with a massive second inning. Key hits from Hanna Ferriell and Lauren Gideon, along with productive outs like Lily Woodworth’s RBI groundout, helped stretch the lead. Tri-City continued to apply pressure with smart situational play, including a sacrifice bunt from Ava Pulliam that brought in another run.
The offense stayed hot into the later innings, highlighted by RBI singles from Ferriell and Kherington Hilbert, and a big double from Roxxi Galassi that capped off the scoring surge. In total, the Tornadoes piled up runs in nearly every inning, overwhelming Pana with a balanced attack.
Across both games, Tri-City showed its versatility—winning a close, defensive battle in game one and then turning around to dominate offensively in game two. It was a complete day for the Tornadoes as they secured the sweep.
