Mt. Pulaski delivered a complete performance on both sides of the ball, defeating North Mac 10-0 in a game controlled from the opening inning.
The Hilltoppers set the tone early, manufacturing runs in the first inning with disciplined at-bats and capitalizing on opportunities to take a quick lead. Their approach at the plate carried into the second inning, where they strung together timely hits and took advantage of defensive miscues to extend the lead to 5-0. Tucker Fitzpatrick contributed with an RBI single, while continued pressure on the bases led to additional runs through a fielder’s choice and a bases-loaded walk.
Mt. Pulaski broke the game open in the third inning behind a key swing from Luke Martin, who drove a double into center field that cleared the bases and pushed the advantage to 8-0. The Hilltoppers maintained their aggressive approach throughout the game.
In the fifth inning, Aaron Volle added the final runs with a two-run double, sealing the 10-0 victory.
On the mound, Martin was dominant from start to finish. He threw a complete-game one-hitter, striking out 10 and not allowing a run, consistently keeping North Mac hitters off balance and preventing any offensive rhythm.
