The Shelbyville Varsity Rams put together a strong all-around performance to take down Tuscola 4-2, using timely hitting and solid pitching to secure the win.
Shelbyville struck first in the opening inning when Karli Boehm delivered an RBI single to bring home Claire Canada, giving the Rams an early 1-0 lead. The offense stayed aggressive, and in the third inning, Alexis Jokisch broke things open with a two-run home run to left field, extending the lead to 3-0.
Tuscola responded in the fifth inning, cutting into the deficit with an RBI double from Sawyer Cleland to make it 3-1. They added another run in the sixth when Alaina Smith drove in a run with a double, trimming the lead to 3-2 and putting pressure on Shelbyville late.
However, the Rams answered right back in the bottom half of the sixth. Jasmine Wildman came through with a clutch triple to right field, driving in Tailyn Hancock to give Shelbyville an insurance run and make it 4-2.
From there, Shelbyville closed the door defensively, holding Tuscola scoreless the rest of the way to secure the victory.
