Tri-City TCSVMP carried their momentum on the road and came away with a hard-fought 3-2 win over Athens in a tight pitchers duel that stayed tense until the final inning.
The game opened with both pitchers in control, as Lily Woodworth and MacKenzie Ratliff traded scoreless frames early while keeping hitters off balance. Athens broke through first in the bottom of the third when Reilen Reynolds launched a solo home run to right field. The Warriors added another run in the inning after Preslie Buckmaster delivered, giving Athens a 2-0 lead.
TCSVMP stayed patient at the plate despite the early deficit. The Tornadoes found their moment in the top of the sixth, putting runners on and setting the stage for Maebri Bender. Bender crushed a deep three run home run to left field, flipping the game and giving TCSVMP a 3-2 lead in one swing.
From there, Woodworth took over. She settled in and shut down Athens the rest of the way, finishing a complete game and closing the door on any comeback attempt.
