Maroa-Forsyth Lady Trojans erupted early and never looked back, using a 7-run first inning and a 6-run second inning to power past the Clinton Lady Maroons 17-2 in non-conference softball action Friday afternoon in Clinton.
Adelyn Simmons set the tone immediately, crushing a solo home run on the fifth pitch of the game to give the Trojans a quick lead. The offense kept rolling behind her, plating six more runs in the opening frame to take full control.
Maroa-Forsyth stayed aggressive in the second inning, tacking on six more runs. Simmons delivered again with a two-run homer as part of the rally, continuing her dominant day at the plate.
Clinton found some life in the fourth inning. Kinzey Sickles reached on a single and later came around to score on a double from Hadley Humble. Anelise Thompson followed by reaching base, and Khloey Riddle drove her in with a single to account for the Maroons two runs.
Jacy Ravenscraft handled the rest in the circle for the Trojans, going the distance and limiting Clinton to just four hits and two runs. Aliviyah Haynes started for the Maroons, striking out six across three innings, while Campbell Bass provided relief work in the fourth.
