Pana Baseball Delivers Brute 8-0 Victory Over Riverton Hawks

The Pana Panthers used an explosive start and consistent pressure on the basepaths to power past the Riverton Hawks, 8–0, on Thursday night at Riverton Hawks Baseball Field.

Pana set the tone early, striking in the top of the first inning. Cash Lynch worked a walk and Madyx Angel followed with a single to put two runners aboard. After a well-executed double steal moved both into scoring position, Jax Czaikowski reached on a Riverton error, allowing Lynch and Angel to score and give the Panthers a quick 2–0 advantage.

Riverton threatened in the bottom half of the inning but was unable to push a run across, a theme that would continue throughout the night.

The Panthers broke the game open in the second inning with a five-run surge. Brylan Miller led off the rally with a double to left field, driving in a run to extend the lead to 3–0. Lincoln Burris followed with a bunt single, setting up Miller to steal home and make it 4–0.

Pana continued to apply pressure as Lynch delivered an RBI single to bring home Burris. Later in the inning, Angel added another RBI with a single to center, and Czaikowski capped the scoring with a sacrifice fly that allowed Easton Malisia to tag up and score. By the end of the inning, the Panthers held a commanding 7–0 lead.

From there, both teams settled in defensively. Riverton managed to put runners on base in the middle innings but could not capitalize, while Pana’s defense held firm to preserve the shutout.

The Panthers added one final run in the top of the seventh. With runners on first and second, Dane Epley singled to left field, bringing Czaikowski home to extend the lead to 8–0.

Riverton was unable to respond in the bottom of the seventh, sealing the victory for Pana.

Pana’s combination of timely hitting, aggressive baserunning, and solid defense proved too much for the Hawks, as the Panthers completed the shutout on the road.
