The Rams opened their season at their home diamond on March 13th as they welcomed the Broncos of Cerro Gordo for the season opener. From the start, the Rams came out swinging and wasted no time putting pressure on the Broncos.
The Rams jumped out to a strong start in the first inning, putting together a big offensive performance to take an early 6–1 lead. Their bats stayed active over the next few innings as they added a few more runs, stretching the advantage to 9–2 heading into the fifth inning and appearing to be in full control of the game.
However, the Broncos were not ready to go away quietly. Cerro Gordo began to chip away at the deficit in the fifth and sixth innings, rallying with several key hits to pull themselves back into the contest. Their late push tightened the score and brought the game within reach, cutting the Rams’ lead to just two runs at 11–9 heading into the final inning.
Despite the pressure, the Rams held their ground defensively in the last frame and shut the door on the Broncos’ comeback attempt. With the final out recorded, the Rams secured an 11–9 victory to open their season.
With the win, the Rams start the year 1–0 and showed early that their offense can produce runs while also proving they can hold strong in close situations.
